Let’s talk Ticks

✨Let’s talk about Ticks!

I think this important to share as I keep seeing conversations of the increase of them this year (and the conversation of Lyme disease is being talked about more).

🍊🍋🍃🌸 Ticks hate the smell of lemon, orange, cinnamon, lavender, peppermint, geranium, cedarwood and thyme, so they'll avoid latching on to anything that smells like that.

✨DIY Recipe =

1 oz Any carrier oil such as almond oil, fractionated coconut oil or lotion. Or add water to a spray bottle and add oils. Shake before spraying.

7 drops Geranium

4 drops Peppermint

4 drops Thyme

4 drops Cedarwood

4 drops lavender

4 drops Eucalyptus

(I will be adding) 👉KUNZEA (aka the tick bush).

The YL Insect Repellent has Geranium added. Although, if you wanted to amp it up, you could add more or some of the other tick-repelling essential oils. Remember, it's always a best practice to repel ticks as opposed to trying to "treat" after the fact. Also, if you plan to be in a wooded area for an extended period of time, remember to reapply after 2-3 hours.

Safe for animals too! I put a drop or two in the palm of my hand and then rub down her legs, belly, tail, and neck. I also apply to her harness. We choose not use any chemical based flea/tick treatments.

👉Reminder…DEET is a registered pesticide. It is a member of the toluene chemical family. Toluene is an organic solvent used in rubber, plastic cements, and paint removers. DEET is absorbed through the skin and can pass into the blood.

👉 Young Living came out with an Insect Repellent that has been tested to repel mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas using 100 percent naturally derived, plant-based ingredients. Pure sesame oil and a carefully selected blend of essential oils traditionally used for their bug-repellent properties come together to make up all 99 percent of the active ingredients in this formula. The other 1 percent? Vitamin E.
