“The Challenger”

🏆 “The Challenger”

Is what they called me this weekend at the Silo District Race Weekend.

🏅5K was Saturday =

Smoke alarm in our cabin started going off at 2am.

Crazy winds and humidity.

Not a flat course.

Felt easy and had to hold myself back.

🏅13.1 was Sunday =

Smoke alarm is now ripped out of cabin, so we slept.

Woke up earlier than alarm with stomach issues.

Thankful I woke up early to give my stomach and system time to balance.

Humid, hot, windy.

Rough roads and hills (maybe looking at the course elevation is smart, but why do that).

Giant snake in road

Watched a young guy pass out (from walking, looking like a ghost, bam on the ground, that’s sobering).

Zig/zag course (I kinda liked the energy of seeing runners on the other side).

Thankful I had extra Nitro and Salt Tabs with me.

I should have known the giant hill would be at mile 12.5 since the end of course was the 5k (lol, again why look at course).

Loved the peacefulness down in the park by the zoo, it was gorgeous and I was able to enjoy it.

Loved starting and ending both races knowing my hubby was there.

Loved seeing some old running friends.

Finished with a 8:32 sprint to finish line (felt strong, and was so ready to be done).

🏃‍♀️ What I noticed from the Houston (The Woodlands) half and now this one (7 weeks apart from each other) is it’s not the mileage that has been difficult (because both races I was able to pickup the pace at the end and sprint in (you can’t do that when beat up from miles)), but the humidity has just been brutal (I sweat a lot!)…so that’s actually exciting that my endurance and training is there.

💪 Ready for the next adventure!
